Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night indicating they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and had been in contact with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of the player specifically in their statement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Shared on Social Media

The woman, who likewise did not name Rice by name, posted a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the second round.

Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Prior Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that left several individuals injured. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
